Russian-American Art Embargo Inspires Exhibition in New York

A new exhibition of Russian art at ABA Gallery in New York is continuing Russian-American cultural exchange at a time when Museum’s can’t. According to the show’s press release, “The concept for the project emerged in response to the moratorium on exchange between Russian and American museums officially enforced three years ago, whose severe void is palpable across institutions throughout the American cultural landscape.”

The show draws from the collections of Vladimir Spivakov and Michael Baryshnikov and presents three centuries of stylistic developments including 19th century Realism, the turn of the century Avant-garde and the mid-century underground. You can preview highlights from the exhibition here

“Russian Art from Private Collections” runs through May 24th.
