A painting by Russian artist Franz Roubaud was recently appraised on PBS’s Antiques Road Show during their visit to Minneapolis. Roubaud is best known for his massive panoramic paintings. These paintings are so large special buildings have been constructed just to display them. Roubaud’s wikipedia page has complete reproductions of two of these panoramas, which allow you to scroll through the painting.
You can see the painting, here at the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
From the article:
“At the ‘Antiques Roadshow’ event in Minneapolis, the owner […] of this circa 1885 heirloom oil painting by Russian artist Franz Roubaud gasps when appraiser Betty Krulik tells her the hot Russian art market is responsible for the work’s high value.”
